The Utrecht School of Arts students who brought you the Team Fortress 2-inspired, PB&J-fueled animated short “Mac ‘n’ Cheese” have uploaded another gorgeously animated school project to Vimeo.
On November 6th, the 1st Annual Palm Beach Art & Music Festival will be taking place at the Meyer Amphitheater from 4 PM till 11 PM. One of our very own Steampunkers from Palm Beach, Maricruz Gonzalez will be there selling some fine Steampunk Jewelry! Please help support this event, and the vendors that will be attending! Admission is free, so come on down!
We have a pretty nifty treat for you all today! Steampunk enthusiast, John Knight has developed a way to control Google Earth on his iPad with an actual globe. The secret is in the RFID tags placed upon the globe itself. The setup is still in the works, but it show’s some pretty innovative thinking on Knight’s part! Hopefully he can get this thing up and running smoothly, and eventually produce these globes! We’re looking at the creation of the Map Room for the 21st Century! Get your dirigibles and submarines prepped for these bad boys!
Speculative Minds will be attending AFO up in Orlando this year. If any of you Florida Steampunkers would like to meet up, and perhaps grab a drink, you should search me out! I’ll be attending all three days (will be there on Thursday as well to help friends set up a booth, but will not be dressed out). Just look for my top hat and goggles making their way through the crowds! Also, I’ll (if they turn out as well as I hope) be sporting a pair of striped pants put together from our striped pants guide over at this link here! So look out for me, and my massive array of modded Nerf guns and say “Hi!” Just no glomping allowed!

Garrett’s Note: I will not be attending so if you will be carrying a Nerf Gun as well, please shoot him the back of the head for me (from a comfortable distance, no unnecessary pain).
Is Disney going steampunk? It seems so. Recently on the Disney blog, Project Manager Steven Miller (not of the Steve Miller band) has announced some new new things going on, particularly one called The Mechanical Kingdom. So far, all The Mechanical Kingdom has is a pin set that accompanies some stories. We at SteampunkGuides.com and SpeculativeMinds.com are hopeing some other merchandise is in the works, along with maybe a section of Orlando Florida’s, The Magic Kingdom theme park. Imagine a whole steampunk section of a Disney theme park! You can be sure that if that happens, we’ll have it covered. What we’re wondering is if this has anything to do with Epic Mickey, the new Disney/Mickey game on the Wii that has many steampunk elements. I guess we’ll see. You can check out or pre-order Epic Mickey here.
