Youtube user EmmyLouAngel created this nifty little video showing off her Steampunk monocle goggles two years ago. The video, unfortunately doesn’t show any tutorials as to how these were created, but you can bet we’ll be attempting to contact her for some tutorials, because her work is amazing! Check out the video below!

No proper adventurer can risk traveling through the wastes without a pair of goggles to protect their eyes. Lucky for you, it’s extremely easy to set yourself up with a spiffy pair!

The easiest style to modify, are welding goggles. You can usually pick up a pair for around $8 at a hardware store. If they don’t have any, just check online. You’re bound to find some.

Step 1: The first step to the process is either covering the lenses, or even removing them from the goggles. Certain types allow you to unscrew a thin ring inside, and remove the lenses for cleaning, and repairing. If the pair you have do this, then that is the easiest way to go.

Step 2: Once your lenses are properly removed or covered by painters tape, you’ll need to apply a flat coat of spray paint to them. Spray an even and thin layer of enamel or primer to the goggles and let sit to dry. To help them dry faster, you may use a blow dryer set to low. Make sure you let them sit in a dry area, or else the humidity may cause the paint to become tacky and hard to work with.

Step 3: Once dry, you may paint the goggles as you please. A thin layer of Rub ‘N Buff will suffice to give the goggles a slight shine and metallic look. Color the goggles any way you wish.

Step 4: Once complete, gently buff with a cloth or paper towel to remove any excess paint off. If everything looks great, let it sit and dry. Depending on the material, it may take a while to dry. Plastics usually dry within an hour, while latex or rubber could take anywhere between a couple hours to even a few days. A blow dryer can be used again to help speed up the process. Just run it across the area slowly, and don’t let it sit for too long.

When finished, let dry, and replace the lenses! Add any extra items, such as gears, cogs, and even a jewelers loupe.
